The environment has been part of our DNA. Since its inception in 2000 To70 Aviation has played a leading role in the efforts to reduce environmental impacts of aviation and developing practical and feasible solutions for a quieter and greener aviation. Our people in their personal life also reflect this spirit to save our planet. With today being World Environment Day 2020, see below the personal initiatives from our To70 employees.
Matt (To70 Australia) lives only 1.3 km from work, deliberately close, and walks to and from work each day, he grows lettuce, basil, tomatoes and broccoli which the possum habitat in the backyard is happy to eat. He also has a 5kw solar system for the house that usually generates more power than they can use at home so around 20% of the total energy generated goes into the national system.
Rob (To70 Australia) has a rainwater tanks for the garden and cycles anywhere less than 10km in fact for a bit of extra inspiration he is trying to beat his screen time by bike time!
Frank and Kjeld (To70 Netherlands) also have solar panels and with their installed panels together they save almost 6 tons of CO2 per year.
Bram (To70 Netherlands) collects rainwater that falls on the roofs in large rain barrels and uses this to spray the garden and the thirsty trees.
Ella (To70 Belgium) uses kitchen waste to make compost which she in turn uses to grow her own vegetables and lemon tree to make limoncello.
Kris (To70 Belgium) reduces his kitchen waste to a minimum by having chickens, meet the fine ladies in the picture, and as a bonus they produce about 30 tasty free-range eggs every week.
Romy (To70 Netherlands) has chosen to live at a CO2 neutral building which has solar panels on the roof for electricity and a heat pump as replacement for gas.
Bruno (To70 Italy) is vegan and tries to only buy and eat local.
Nic (To70 Netherlands) has her own little green house with tomatoes, cucumber and basil. Beside these veggies she has a plum tree, apple tree, cherry tree and pear tree in her garden. They have so much fruits, that she can share with the neighbourhood.
At To70 sustainability is a key priority and therefore we start by reducing our own environmental impact and reducing our carbon footprints. We therefore have a paperless office, we recycle and reuse of our waste, have no company cars and use public transportation or biking as the main means of transport. On distance more than 500 km when Flying is needed for our business we make sure to offset these flights. We promote teleworking and working from home because it results in a better work life balance and it reduces CO2.
